Before you book...

Can any of these services in your area help?

Home Visits

Patients are generally seen at the surgery, but patients may be seen at home if the doctor considers a home visit necessary due to the patient’s medical condition.

Home visits are for housebound patients only. We will always encourage you to come into surgery as this is where we can provide the best care. Specialist equipment is here, tests can be carried out more easily and drugs issued if necessary.

A clinician will visit you if;

  • you are terminally ill
  • bed bound
  • physically incapable of coming to the surgery with assistance

Please note a clinician may ring you first as there may not be any need for a home visit.

A visit takes half an hour MINIMUM and for every visit, approximately 2-4 patients can be seen at the
surgery.

If you are able to get out with assistance, please attend the surgery.

Nurses Appointments

If you need to see a Nurse we have many appointments available Monday to Friday. We have 4 Nurses available who are specialised in different areas and monitor long term health problems.

Unfortunately, our nurses do not do dressings. Please contact the treatment room services on 01282 805834.

Routine Doctor’s appointments

Our routine appointment system goes 6 weeks ahead so you are able to book a routine appointment with a doctor up to 6 weeks ahead of the current date. Routine appointments are for patients who have ongoing issues or matters that don’t need attending to in an emergency clinic. Routine appointments are suited to those that want to see the same doctor or a doctor of their choice.

Urgent Doctor’s Appointments

If you have an urgent medical problem that genuinely cannot wait until the next routine appointment, we offer same day urgent appointments. The doctor will see you for this urgent medical problem only. If you have any other non-urgent matters, please book an additional routine appointment with your usual doctor.

Please be aware that we will need to ask what the matter is to be able to sign post you to the correct clinician. We may even be able to help you without you having to see a doctor or nurse, as some problems can be dealt with by the receptionist e.g. on-going sick notes, prescriptions, routine test requests etc.

Whilst we do our best to accommodate you with the resources we have, please don’t expect our receptionists to be able to offer you a time, while perhaps is ideal for you, is a time that they simply don’t have a doctor available. If yourneed is genuinely urgent, we would expect that getting medical attention will be your priority rather than finding an appointment that fits around work, school or other engagements.

Please be aware that you may not see the doctor of your choice.

We DO NOT class the following as emergencies –

Sick notes
On-going stable conditions
Prescriptions
Routine test requests/ results
Minor ailments

Telephone Appointments

There are several telephone appointments available per session per clinician working on that day. If you want to speak to a clinician of your choice and you don’t need to be seen, a telephone appointment may be suited to you. A telephone call can often save time for both clinicians and patients but please speak to a receptionist first and let them know what you need to speak to the doctor about. A telephone call may not suffice; you may need to be seen. We don’t want to waste yours or the clinician’s time.
