From April 2014, everyone aged 75 and over is entitled to have a named GP to oversee their care.
Here at Barnoldswick Medical Centre we assign a named GP to ALL our patients to ensure the best possible level of care. As the practice operates a personal list system we already fulfil this new Government requirement. You named GP will remain the same as now. If you are unsure who your named GP is, then please contact the surgery.
Please note that it is not always possible to see your named GP if you require an urgent appointment, but routine appointments are always available to book up to 5 weeks in advance if you would like to discuss your care with your named GP.
The named GP will not take on 24 hour responsibility for the patient or make changes to their working hours, the requirement does not imply personal availability for GP’s throughout the working week. The named GP cannot be the only GP to care for that patient.
The Practice is now trialling longer appointments for patients aged 75+.
